InnovMetric has acquired the intellectual property of France-based computed tomography software developer Digisens, bringing the company’s team of specialists into its group to develop new inspection capabilities.
Digisens’ developers are building an extension module that will enable computed tomography (CT) scanner data to be imported directly into InnovMetric’s PolyWorks platform. The integration will allow users to compare a physical part’s internal and external geometry against its CAD model.
Founded in 2002 in Le Bourget-du-Lac, France, Digisens developed solutions for image reconstruction, voxel-based visualization, material integrity analysis and high-precision surface determination. The company is also recognized for its expertise in optimizing computational performance through the use of graphics processing units.
According to InnovMetric, industrial CT is the only non-destructive method capable of capturing an entire part, including internal structures not visible to conventional inspection techniques. The technology is increasingly relevant as additive manufacturing drives greater geometric complexity in sectors including aerospace.
“The synergy between our respective expertise and market positioning is ideal. In response to the growing demand for 3D inspection of complex parts, the addition of Digisens’ specialists strengthens our ability to offer a high-performance, fully integrated alternative,” said Louis-Jérôme Doyon, vice president of business development at InnovMetric.
