US-based eVTOL aircraft developer Archer is to open an engineering office in Bristol to support work across its commercial and defense programs.
The company’s UK engineering hub will initially focus on collaborative work with Anduril UK and GKN in support of the British Army’s Project NYX and the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Land Autonomous Collaborative Platform program.
Archer’s defense work is anchored by its strategic partnership with Anduril, which selected the company as its exclusive partner to develop a hybrid-electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft for US and allied defense applications.
Archer announced plans to open a UK office in December and has since received hundreds of applications. Hiring of engineers is now under way.
“We want to hire the best engineers the UK has to offer,” said Adam Goldstein, CEO and founder of Archer. “Bristol has a strong industrial base and a deep talent pool that makes that possible.”
