Emerson announced a series of hardware and software improvements to its test and measurement portfolio, including an AI-powered advisor for its software platforms at the annual NI Connect conference in Fort Worth, Texas this week.
The company plans to release the NI Nigel AI Advisor for NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand in July. The AI system is trained across NI’s software suite and built on Emerson’s cloud network to analyze code, suggest changes, and help users find the right tools from over 700 functions using plain language queries.
“For over five decades, we have delivered advanced innovations in test that simplified and redefined what is possible, becoming the gold standard by reducing complexity and delivering long term value,” said Ritu Favre, test and measurement group president at Emerson. “I am more confident than ever that our approach to delivering the most open, flexible, modular platform is essential for moving into the next generation of technology innovation.”
The company expanded its data acquisition portfolio with three new hardware solutions: NI FieldDAQ for extreme environments, USB-C NI CompactDAQ chassis for greater flexibility, and a connector for C Series Modules to simplify signal connections.
Emerson also updated its third-generation Vector Signal Transceiver with a new 4 GHz bandwidth option and the ability to combine two units for up to 7 GHz of instantaneous bandwidth through its spectrum stitching technology.
Software enhancements include a broad base version of NI SystemLink, third-party signal source support for NI InstrumentStudio via custom plugins, and numerous NI LabVIEW improvements. The LabVIEW updates feature improved debugging workflow, support for newer programming environments, and better virtual instrument comparison capabilities.
The company has implemented more than a dozen user suggestions from its online Ideas Exchange portal into the product updates. Emerson also announced expanded support for its user community through the launch of an open-source GitHub repository for NI FlexLogger plugins and extension of its free LabVIEW Community Edition to macOS for university students.
The conference included product demonstrations, technical panel sessions, and academic research presentations focused on technology innovation.
