Germany-based Physik Instrumente’s compact H-811.I2 hexapod delivers reliability in high-cycle applications while balancing size, payload, and performance for demanding industrial and research uses.

The H-811.I2 miniature hexapod from Physik Instrumente (PI) offers precision positioning with six degrees of freedom for applications in optical manufacturing, automation, silicon photonics, and micro-assembly. The system features a small footprint while maintaining high performance and precision for integration into complex systems.

The positioning system uses six synchronously controlled actuators that enable the platform to position and align loads in three translational and three rotational axes. This capability proves valuable for positioning tools in micro-assembly, aligning optical fibers in silicon photonics, and simulating movements for functional tests.

A freely definable center of rotation provides flexibility across applications. The system achieves velocities up to 20 mm/s with guaranteed precision values including minimum incremental motion down to 0.08 µm and repeatability of ±0.06 µm.

The hexapod delivers travel ranges of ±17 mm for translational movement and ±21° for rotational positioning. Designed for reliability over extended operation, the system handles payloads up to 5 kg and is rated for up to 20 million motion cycles.

Vacuum-compatible versions operating at pressures up to 10-6 hPa are available for specialized environments. The controller allows straightforward integration and intuitive operation of the parallel-kinematic system.

All target positions can be commanded in Cartesian coordinates, with the position and alignment of both the reference coordinate system and rotation center definable in software. A simulation program enables calculation and visualization of the workspace to simplify implementation.

PI has built extensive, flexible hexapod production capacity combining automation, digitalization, lean manufacturing approaches, and ergonomics. These optimized processes ensure product quality and dependable delivery schedules with minimal lead times.

Each hexapod undergoes comprehensive final measurement procedures before shipment to verify quality and specifications. The company’s manufacturing capabilities support quick product delivery, helping customers respond to market demands and maintain competitive advantage.
