dSPACE has expanded its Scalexio real-time platform for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) applications with the new FSX product line. The modular architecture enables improved electrical fault injection, signal conditioning, and customized extensions for HIL testing in the aerospace and other industrial sectors.
Scalexio FSX completes the product family of Scalexio real-time systems and provides the foundation for an expanded range of standardized HIL solutions. According to dSPACE the modular design makes the construction of scalable test solutions easier and shortens project-specific adaptations of HIL systems in the field.
“With Scalexio FSX, we are increasing the flexibility of our market-leading HIL offering and responding to current challenges in the context of highly dynamic development projects,” said Christian Wördehoff, lead business field manager HIL testing at dSPACE.
The modular architecture allows test systems to grow during projects, enabling engineers to implement customized test systems for different requirements within comprehensive test strategies. Scalexio emphasizes seamless transitions between systems, meaning both real-time applications and system configurations can be expanded and reused.
The systems are designed for user-friendly operation, allowing users to implement hardware modifications and extensions without requiring specialized technical support. This capability reduces project timelines and enables more flexible adaptation to changing test requirements.
The FSX extension features a modular software architecture configured using the External Device Editor, with system and control access via the ASAM-XIL API standard. The External Device Editor allows users to define pin assignments and cable harness configurations required for connecting control units and other external devices.
Scalexio HIL systems are designed to validate real-time applications across multiple industries, with particular focus on applications requiring high-fidelity simulation and precise control of test conditions. The platform supports complex testing scenarios where hardware components must be tested in simulated environments before deployment.
The FSX product line addresses current challenges in highly dynamic development projects where test requirements frequently change and systems must adapt quickly to new specifications. The modular approach enables efficient resource utilization and reduces overall testing costs.
