The test flight crew of an Airbus A380 has brought unexpected festive cheer to the aviation sector in the build-up to Christmas by flying over Germany in the shape of a giant Christmas tree.

The A380, which has the temporary registration F-WWAE and will be delivered to Emirates, departed from Hamburg-Finkenwerder at 1:00pm CET on December 13 and landed at 5:00pm.

The flight, which was tracked by website flightradar24.com, drew a tree over hundreds of miles from Hamburg to Stuttgart in the south of the country.
