Boom Supersonic selected Honeywell Anthem avionics and integrated flight deck for its Overture aircraft.

As part of the agreement between the two companies, Honeywell’s modular avionics platform will be incorporated into Overture.

US-based Boom is developing the Mach 2.2-capable Overture airliner to carry up to 88 passengers and have a range of 4,500 nautical miles. The aircraft will be powered by three non-afterburning, medium-bypass turbofan engines, two under the wings and one in the tail.

Boom plans to roll out the first completed Overture aircraft in 2025, with entry into service planned for 2029. The aircraft is in its design phase, while engineers at the company plan to start flight testing a prototype of Overture called XB-1 this year.

The Honeywell Anthem flight deck will be tailored for Overture’s specific mission requirements, helping to enable situational awareness and enhanced safety. The advanced avionics interface provides continuity to Overture pilots from initial simulator-based flight training through to actual flights.

Honeywell successfully completed the first flight of its Anthem integrated flight deck using its Pilatus PC-12 test aircraft in May 2023, paving the way for FAA certification.

Blake Scholl, founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic said, “Honeywell has an extensive history of aerospace innovation and shares our vision of a faster future through sustainable supersonic flight.

“We are proud to work with Honeywell to realize one of the most advanced flight decks in the sky, with state-of-the-art technologies that reduce pilot workload and increase safety.”

Boom has expanded its supplier network since the Paris Air Show in June 2023, adding several tier-one global aerospace leaders to support the development of Overture.
