Heart Aerospace today announced that it has selected Aernnova to co-design the airframe for the new ES-19 electric airplane.
The company’s planned 19-seater ES-19 will have a range of 400km (250 miles) and will be able to operate from runways just 750m (2,461ft) long. With a targeted certification by summer 2026, Heart is rapidly growing its team, onboarding experience in its team and developing its design while progressing steadily through testing and certification. The company recently demonstrated the powertrain for the ES-19, the focus of its engineering efforts for the past two years.
Anders Forslund, CEO of Heart Aerospace said, “Aernnova has an impressive track record and an outstanding reputation in the industry, and we couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with them for the ES-19 airframe design. We look forward to working with them in designing the plane that will reinvent regional air travel together.
“The company’s engineers will work together with Heart’s own engineers in the design of the wing, the fuselage and the empennage of the airplane. The design of the ES-19 is based on an aluminum airframe with retractable landing gear, a high wing, a T-shaped empennage and a non-cylindrical fuselage to optimize the cabin interior.
Heart Aerospace was founded in 2018 by Forslund.
Aernnova is a Spanish company which develops aero structures and components in partnership with aircraft manufacturers..

Last year Heart demonstrated the first version of this electric propulsion system, consisting of a 400kW electric motor, an electric motor controller and a battery pack with an integrated BMS system – all with world-leading performance.
