Dramatic video of King Stallion helicopter dust tests

The CH-53K “King Stallion” Heavy Lift Helicopter began degraded visual environment (DVE) testing at the US Army Yuma Proving Ground in September 2018. This video shows the helicopter creating massive clouds of dust in the landing area, which was regularly plowed to create the most extreme dust situation possible for this flight test.

The Sikorsky CH-53K has been developed for the US Marine Corps and features three 7,500hp engines, composite rotor blades and a wider cabin than previous variants. The helicopter’s first flight took place in October 2015 and the first CH-53K was delivered in May 2018.
