Toulouse, France-based aerospace company Aura Aero has powered on the first prototype of its Integral E electric aircraft.

The training and aerobatic aircraft was powered on during an event at the company’s facility at Toulouse-Francazal airport last week.

The power-on, first propeller revolution and Integral E’s roll-out represent a major milestone for Aura Aero. The prototype is expected to begin its flight test campaign next month, with a planned entry into service of the Integral electric range scheduled for 2026.

Aura Aero is also developing the Electric Regional Aircraft (ERA), a 19-seater regional aircraft that will use electric propulsion technology and expertise developed as part of the Integral E program. The ERA has a planned 300 mile (480km) range to enter into service in 2027.

Jérémy Caussade, president and co-founder of Aura Aero said, “The first power-on of Integral E represents a very intense moment in the history of Aura Aero, a history which we are writing each day, with our teams and with the support of all those who are alongside us”.

“We are now starting our second fund-raising campaign to accelerate the adventure and we will see you very soon for the take-off of the French electric two-seater aircraft.”

Around twelve Integral aircraft are already in production, with the combustion engine-variants Integral – R and S, scheduled to be certified and enter into service this year. The Integral R aerobatic aircraft has taildragger landing gear, and the Integral S has tricycle landing gear.

A tow-plane version of the Integral E is also planned which also be developed in partnership with the French Gliding Federation.
