Carestream’s Non-Destructive Testing group has announced worldwide availability of the INDUSTREX HPX-ARC 1025 PH, a bendable digital radiography detector designed for curved surface inspections and confined space applications.
The detector features flexible design properties that allow curvature from flat positioning to conform around 2in (5cm) diameter objects while maintaining high-resolution imaging capabilities. The device provides a 4x10in (10x25cm) capture area specifically sized for common NDT inspection requirements.
“Until now, the use of DR [digital radiography] for NDT inspection has been limited due to size and rigid properties, making it difficult to access tight spaces and satisfy certain applications,” said David Chan, global general manager for Carestream NDT. “Our customers have been looking for a solution to this problem. Carestream NDT’s bendable DR panel provides that solution.”
The lightweight detector is aimed for use in welding inspections and applications that require manipulation around inspected components. Digital enhancements enable instant image processing with reduced radiation dosages compared to conventional radiography systems, improving workflow efficiency and throughput.
Close-to-edge imaging capabilities provide high-resolution results with instant image access for rapid analysis during examinations. The design reduces time-consuming reshoots typically required after inspection points, streamlining overall inspection procedures.
The detector integrates with Carestream NDT’s INDUSTREX Digital Viewing Software platform, enabling standardization across both computed radiography and digital radiography inspection workflows. This integration allows faster deployment into existing inspection procedures and equipment configurations.
“It transforms the NDT inspection market and opens the use of DR to applications our customers never thought possible,” Chan said.
The bendable detector addresses limitations of rigid digital radiography systems in accessing confined spaces and complex geometries. Traditional NDT applications have been constrained by detector size and inflexibility when inspecting curved components or tight access areas.
