China’s C919 jet completes second test flight

China’s large passenger aircraft, the C919, completed its second test flight on September 28.

The jet, numbered 10101, took off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and reached an altitude of 10,000ft, flying for 2 hours 46 mins Thursday. Flight time was twice as long as its maiden flight in May 2017. Next the aircraft will be taken to Xi’an for further test flights.

With a standard range of 4,075km (2,532 miles), the jet is comparable with the updated Airbus 320 and Boeing’s new generation 737, according to COMAC (the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China).
