VIDEO: eVTOL developer Lilium reveals 5th generation demonstrator test flight

0

Lilium, which restarted its flight test campaign, has shared video of footage of its 5th generation demonstrator in flight.

The demonstrator includes a redesigned battery system and optimized sound signature and in the video above Lilium’s chief technical officer Alastair McIntosh discusses the flight testing milestones being achieved by the company.

The Munich, Germany-based company is targeting an entry into service during 2024 for its 7-seater eVTOL aircraft, which uses a distributed propulsion system that provides vectored thrust.

Lilium’s flight test program suffered a setback in February 2020 when its demonstrator caught fire, but the company has made progress since then including raising further funding.

The video below shows the aircraft on final approach during flight testing this summer.
