This video shows the development and structural testing of NASA’s 39ft long Passive Aeroelastic Tailored Wing at the Armstrong Flight Research Center’s Flight Loads Laboratory in the USA.
The wing, which is designed to reduce weight and maximize structural strength could lead to longer, thinner wings to help aircraft become more fuel efficient. The tests also gave engineers valuable insight into ways to test highly flexible, high aspect ratio wings.
