National Instruments releases SystemLink software for testing system management

NI System link

National Instruments has released its SystemLink software, which provides a single, central interface for automating tasks such as remote configuration and performance monitoring of devices in testing systems.

The software-centric platform is used to develop and improve the performance of automated test and measurement systems, said National Instruments (NI).

SystemLink enables engineers to connect, deploy and manage distributed systems, both NI and third-party, through a web page accessible from anywhere. This makes it possible for them to remotely configure and deploy software; monitor the health and performance of equipment; manage alarms; and visualize application parameters.

Additionally, engineers can automate the communication of data to customer-defined dashboards and remote operator interfaces.

Daniel Huang, head of testing technology, high and low voltage frequency converters at Siemens, said, “SystemLink substantially reduces the administration time necessary to deploy software and manage configurations on test systems. This enables our engineering teams to focus on higher value tasks.”

Trends like the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), 5G and the vehicle electrification, coupled with the need to maintain distributed legacy systems, are driving the development of new approaches to systems management, said NI.

Challenges facing engineers in the aerospace and defense industry include tasks like remote software and system configuration as well as data management and performance monitoring. Devices under test are also becoming more complex and there are shorter timeframes for testing programs.
