Slovakia-based KleinVision’s flying car, the AirCar is to be manufactured and used in China after the company signed a deal with China’s Hebei Jianxin Flying Car Technology.

The geographically limited license for producing the Slovakia-certified flying car grants the The Jianxin Group the rights to manufacture and distribute the AirCar within a specific geographical region.

Stefan Klein, Chairman of the Board at KleinVision said, “We are pleased to announce the sale of the license for our certified flying car technology to the esteemed Chinese company.

Anton Zajac, co-founder at KleinVision said, “This partnership represents a significant step in our mission to expand global access to revolutionary mobility solutions and drive progress in the industry.”

The 1000kg (2,200 lbs) 2-seat dual-mode AirCar has a top speed of 100mph (160km/h) and can fly at a maximum altitude of 8,000ft. The prototype was powered by 1.6L BMW petrol engine. Development of the vehicle started in 2017.

The hybrid vehicle takes two minutes and 15 seconds to transform from a car into an aircraft.

The AirCar was issued a Certificate of Airworthiness by the Slovak Transport Authority in January 2022.

Since then, the unusual vehicle has attracted media attention with visits from the Youtuber MrBeast and the crew of Grand Tour: Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, indicating “clear validations” of the technology, said KleinVision.

AirCar is not Europe’s only flying car under development. Netherlands-based Pal-V’s two-seater, gyrocopter-based Liberty has a top speed of 180 km/h (110mph), a maximum take-off weight of 910kg (2,000 lbs), a range of 500km (310 miles) and flight endurance of four hours.

Pal-V recently announced a deal with Dubai’s Aviterra for 100 Liberty vehicles.
