The Boeing Company is hiring for a Flight Test Engineer located in Patuxent River, Maryland.
This Flight Test Engineering position will support the F-18 Flight Test Program with Flight Test Aircraft Preparation and Aircraft Readiness on the Boeing F-18 Airframe Systems team.
This position will support upcoming tests by coordinating F-18 modification requirements, parts availability and tracking, and engineering drawing research. During modification periods, this position will track and follow mod progress and help resolve problems through mod completion.
This position will coordinate daily with aircraft maintenance, air vehicle engineering, and IPTs in St. Louis. This position will also support flight test readiness by working with maintenance and engineering teams to helpresolve aircraft discrepancies.
Position Responsibilities: Develops configuration definition needed to perform the test Assists in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of test hardware Assists in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods Develops simple test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform the test and minimize risk Designs component and sub-assembly level hardware or software and uses analytical tools to verify the design Assists in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of test hardware Identifies solutions to basic problems and supports the development of metrology processes, methods, and tools Supports development of test debrief material Participates in evaluation of test performance data Reviews test data for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer Alerts senior engineers of off-nominal data Works under general supervision This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Active Secret Clearance Experience with reading drawings, using modeling/drafting software, and CNC programming Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering Typical Education/Experience Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
