Airbus starts A330neo cabin tests

The first A330neo for launch operator TAP Air Portugal, MSN1819, has completed its four-and-a-half-hour maiden flight.

 

MSN1819 is the first aircraft fitted with the Airspace cabin by Airbus. It is equipped with light flight test instrumentation during its test phase to check cabin systems such as air conditioning, crew rest etc.

 

The aircraft joins the fleet of two A330-900 test aircraft that have been performing flight tests since October 19, 2017.

 

The first A330neo, MSN179 made its inaugural flight in October 2017. The second, MSN1813, took off from Toulouse in December 2017. Airbus’ testing and development program for the A330neo will comprise of 1,100 flight hours to achieve its EASA and FAA Type Certification by mid-2018.

 

According to Airbus, the A330neo offers the lowest operating costs in its category. The A330neo first delivery is planned in summer 2018.
