GKN Aerospace Sweden selects Element as testing partner

GKN Aerospace, Trollhättan, Sweden

GKN Aerospace Sweden has awarded a five-year contract to measurement and calibration company Exova Metech, which was recently taken over by Element Materials Technology.

GKN Aerospace Sweden design and manufacture components for aircraft and rocket engines in collaboration with the major engine manufacturers.

The contract extends a long-standing relationship between the two companies. It will see Element carry out a range of metrology and calibration services for GKN and its supply chain partners in accordance with internationally recognized standards from the client’s facilities in Trollhättan, Sweden.

GKN Sweden’s calibration systems will also transfer to Element’s cloud-based registry, Metech Instrument Organizer, providing access to Sweden’s only accredited measuring service for computerised measuring machines.

Rick Sluiters, executive vice president of Aerospace at Element, said, “Following the Element acquisition we are delighted to further strengthen this relationship with the signing of this five-year contract.

“The agreement adds real certainty for our client through our on-site support and fully accredited end-to-end service, which will be tailored to meet its production requirements and minimize cost and downtime, all delivered to internationally recognized standards.

Håkan Eriksson, facilities and environment manager, GKN, said, “We are delighted to extend our relationship with Element. As Exova Metech, it provided excellent support to us over the last decade and we trust them to do the same over this next period."
