Laser Technology Inc. (LTI) is the world leader for Shearography NDT systems instruments, services and training. Shearography is a proven technology that can eliminate production bottlenecks in aerospace manufacturing.
Developed by LTI in the 80’s for the USAF B-2 program, shearography NDT systems scan metal or composite aircraft structures for subsurface disbonds, delaminations and porosity at speeds up to 500 sq. ft./hour, 50 times faster than the UT C-Scan. For aircraft control surfaces, flaps, slats, winglets, composite fuselages and composite laminate parts, LTI shearography systems deliver NDT results at a lower cost with far higher throughput than conventional NDT methods. LTI shearography NDT systems are used on many civil, military aircraft and space programs including the F-22, F-16, NASA’s Space Shuttle and Delta IV.
Portable Shearography Systems
LTI offers a complete line of portable shearography NDT systems to inspect metal or composite honeycomb structures, and laminates for defects such as non-visible impact damage, disbonds or delaminations. Portable shearography systems from LTI provide a large area, on-vehicle inspection capability and throughput unobtainable with any other technology. LTI offers shearography inspection tools for a broad range of aerospace inspection applications, designed for the NDT Technician, with easy to use programmable test procedures, built-in LCD displays and powerful user friendly software.

Production Shearography Systems
LTI manufactures shearography systems to scan almost any size test article. Our open frame or test chamber scan systems include simple to operate multi-axis motion control, single or multiple shear camera arrays, controls, fixtures and tooling to meet customer requirements. Recent applications include systems for the Space Shuttle External Tank, Bell Helicopter and USAF B-2.
Training
LTI provides shearography training courses meeting the requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A through Level III. Shearography NDT is included in NAS 410 Rev 3.
